Every dermal filler is slightly different. Dr. Sheena Kong performs a wide range of facial rejuvenation treatments and may recommend our San Francisco Radiesse injections to help you restore facial skin quality. You may want to take advantage of the unique properties of this groundbreaking injectable.

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse has the unique capacity to smooth lines and wrinkles, with the added benefit of triggering natural collagen production for a beautiful, fresh result. Radiesse was developed to last for longer than many fillers, up to a year or even longer. It was formulated with tiny microspheres of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA), suspended in a gel formula. The gel provides instant volume to smooth lines and wrinkles, after which the Ca HA goes to work.

How Does Radiesse Work?

This specially-formulated filler works for longer, as over time, the gel in the product is naturally absorbed by the body. The CaHA then does it work, triggering natural collagen production. Nothing is more natural in appearance than skin that is firm and soft, plumped with collagen providing hydration and structure.

Am I a Candidate for Radiesse?

If you are tired of seeing lines and wrinkles and are looking for a solution, you may be a candidate for Radiesse in San Francisco. Most people are good candidates, with a few exceptions, such as pregnant women or those with severe allergies, or who are allergic to any of the ingredients in the product, including lidocaine.

Do Radiesse Injections Hurt?

Treatment with this advanced dermal filler can be performed in just minutes. It can be mixed with lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment experience. If you are ready to do something effective about aging skin, we invite you to find out more about Radiesse – these injections could provide you with results that last longer than many other dermal fillers. With lidocaine, you can expect a pain-free experience. Without it, you will feel a slight pinch and then pressure as the product enters your skin layers.

Does Radiesse Have any Risks or Side Effects?

Radiesse injections are not dangerous or pose health risks for most people. The microspheres in the product are calcium-based, similar to minerals found within the body, and no allergy testing is needed for treatment due to high biocompatibility. As with any treatment, a review of your health history is always important. For almost all patients, Radiesse injections pose no risk.

The side effects are as you would find with any dermal filler. There is a slight chance of swelling, bruising, or redness at the injection site. It is of utmost importance than any dermal filler is injected by an expert, as it is the hands behind the needle that makes all the difference. Dr. Sheena Kong’s patients often remark about her outstanding injection skills. If you should have swelling or redness, it quickly fades, leaving the smoothing effect of the Radiesse.

Why Should I Choose Dr. Sheena Kong's MedSpa for Radiesse?

In San Francisco, Dr. Sheena Kong is recognized as being among the most professional, respected, anti-aging experts. A Harvard graduate with a Master’s in in medical science, she has achieved acclaim in the Bay Area for her excellent results, and the care and attention she provides each patient. All injections are performed by Dr. Kong, not an assistant. She will work closely with you to help you achieve your vision for facial rejuvenation and may recommend Radiesse as an option for you.

How is Radiesse Different?

Radiesse is the only FDA-approved dermal filler to be developed with the tiny, calcium-based microspheres. These microspheres are the magic behind the long-term results of Radiesse injections. They stimulate the natural production of collagen, the perfect skin plumper – created by your own body as it regenerates skin quality.

Dear Patients:

Our office is open starting on June 15, 2020. We consider the well-being of our patients and staff as our highest priority and it is always best to take sensible precautions during a time like this.

Please note the following in regards to all patient appointments:

We are asking patients who experience any of the following symptoms to self-quarantine and cancel their appointments: fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, sore throat, coughing, and/or chest pain.

(This also includes those that have been in contact with COVID-19 positive individuals such as traveling to and from any high risk areas such as New York/New Jersey to self-quarantine and cancel appointments.)

  • All patients will have temperatures taken and are requested to wear a mask throughout their appointments.
  • We are limiting the number of appointments to reinforce social distancing.
  • Only the patients who are receiving a treatment are allowed in the office (pets, children, family and friends are asked to stay at home).
  • For procedures that patients cannot wear a mask, we request patients to obtain a COVID-19 test 3-5 days prior to their scheduled appointments (see below for testing information).
  • These treatments include:
  • Facial laser treatments
  • Facial filler injections
  • Lip injections
  • Thread lifts
  • Ultherapy

This also includes procedures that are delivered with closer proximity to patients over a long period of time:

COVID-19 Testing Information:

For COVID-19 testing, you can do either the nasal swab or the saliva test, of which the latter may be more comfortable.

You can order your saliva test at the following link 2 weeks before your appointment for it to arrive in time; Vault health will prepare the paperwork for your reimbursement. Your first test should be covered by your insurance under the CARES Act:

Once the test arrives, please schedule your consultation about one week prior to your appointment. With the guidance of a Vault Health nurse, collect saliva for the test and then overnight your completed kit via FedEx (provided by Vault Health). Your results will be available about 2-3 days afterwards. You will then email Dr. Kong at info@sheenakong.com the results once you receive them.

Lastly, in addition to our already extensive level of cleaning and sterilization, we have supplemented these efforts with additional deep cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces. I appreciate your efforts in keeping our practice a safer place!

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Kindest Regards,
Dr. Sheena Kong
